摘要
In this research, the different alternative decentralized electricity generation options available to rural areas in Jordan are prioritized using a robust and flexible multicriteria decision making methodology called the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The results of the research serve as indicators for energy policy decision makers in Jordan in directing their attention, for example in terms of capital budgeting or research and development, to the more important options. The analysis of results points out that decentralized electricity generation from biogas is the most preferable option. The use of biogas systems in rural areas solves both the fuel and fertilizer problems. In addition, this option improves the sanitary conditions of rural areas. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
