摘要
Web technologies-based education poses the challenge of developing a learning environment that enables the design of flexible and personalized learning material that is adjusted to heterogeneous work environments, which guarantees material exchange and reuse. This paper presents the development of an ontology that formalizes conceptualization in the education domain. It highlights the design and management of material to assess the teaching-learning process in distributed environments, including terms descriptions, taking into account work context, synonyms and morphologic variations, as well as abbreviations and the existing relationships among them. This ontology helps learners, designers, teachers or automated software processes in their search, evaluation, acquisition and use of learning material, because it describes relevant characteristics of the learning components according to the IEEE Learning Object Metadata Standard.
