摘要
The principal innovation in this paper is to make code as well as data net-centric(1), i.e., not merely available system wide but dynamically and selectively available as a part of standard operations. The result is a built in capability for systems or networks to evolve without interrupting their operation. This is built on architectural principles that, even if somewhat spectacular in combination, are solid as a rock, involving mobility, class loading, services, integrated modules, and other established functionality. Seen in outline, or as a roadmap, this paper shows (1) how a Mobile Object Technology (MOT) standard can use the Open Source Gateway Initiative (OSGi) standard, sometimes called "Universal Middleware" (UM), to provide (2) a networked system with Automated Universal Middleware (AUM) thereby allowing (3) the efficient management of an evolvable Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) system. This is achieved by applying the Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) architectural principle (using integrated modules) to higher-level SOA based systems such as Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) System Wide Information Management (SWIM) and the Department of Defense (DoD) Global Information Grid (GIG) with event-based architectures (EBA).
