Magnetic properties of W-type ferrites

Substitution of A and Me in AMe(2)Fe(16)O(27) system ferrites by La)..5K(0.5) and (Li0.5Fe0.5)(x)Zn2-x, respectively. has been carried out. Several compositions were prepared by varying the x from 0 to 2. The sol-gel route was used for the preparation of the ferrites. Saturation magnetization studies as a function of sintering temperature show a significant increase in the values from 12 to 88 G cm(3) gm(-1) for sintering temperatures 1100-1325 degreesC. The curie temperature increases with an increase in the sintering temperature. The highest value of the order of 635 degreesC was obtained at x = 1.8. The microstructure study of W-type ferrites indicates a rapid increase in the grain size beyond the sintering temperature of 1100 degreesC. (C) 2002 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.
