Reflection asymmetric shapes in the neutron-rich Ba-140,Ba-143 isotopes

摘要
Level schemes for the neutron-rich Ba-140,Ba-143 nuclei have been determined by study of prompt gamma-rays in spontaneous fission of Cf-252. The level pattern and enhanced E1 transitions between pi = + and pi = - bands show reflection asymmetric shapes with simplex quantum number s = +1 in Ba-140 and s = +/-i in Ba-143, respectively. The octupole deformation stability with spin variation has been discussed.
