摘要
Advanced digital signal processing of neuronal spike trains to facilitate electrode placement in the globus pallidus currently exists. Our purpose was to develop a computerized system for quantitative analysis of physiological data, which would optimize lesion placement while minimizing the number of electrode tracts required. Neuronal spike trains contain unique information of ongoing processes at different nuclear sites; analysis of these spike trains has been proven to be a reliable method for localization in stereotactic functional neurosurgery. Mathematical analysis of spike trains and of the relationships between neuronal activity at different locations, reveals a new insight into neuronal interaction and perhaps can determine the best site for lesioning in the globus pallidus internum.
