Assessing the Effectiveness of Videoconferencing in Education; Case Study of UAE University

摘要
This study is an attempt to investigate the effectiveness of videoconferencing in teaching media courses in UAEU. A sample of 186 undergraduate students were asked to complete an effectiveness questionnaire to help in determining not only the points of strength, but also the points of weakness in the videoconferencing experience which could hinder achieving its goals. This quantitative data collection method was supported by discussion forums created in Blackboard web-based system. The number of students who participated in the forums reached 55 females and 30 males. Moreover in depth interviews were conducted with 7 faculty members to discover the factors that affect the success of applying videoconferencing in education.
