摘要
The number of intentional and unintentional explosions is constantly increasing worldwide. Owing to increasing threat, the need for safer structures is of utmost importance. This paper summarizes and systematizes the studies conducted on blast load mitigation. The studies on design and retrofit methods utilize experimental investigation. The results obtained through field tests approximately represent real-life situations. The research included a wide variety of materials, which are used for the design and retrofit of structural elements, ranging from fiber-reinforced to externally retrofitted concrete. Tests showed high potential of all applied methods for increasing blast resistance by enhancing structural strength and ductility, and by reducing or even preventing flying debris.
