The production of water triple points is described in the perspective of some problems that have been encountered recently with water triple point cells. These problems are irreproducible cell realisations and could have been caused by effects related to fractionation of the water isotopes as well as with other contamination effects. A study is under way that studies these effects. Some initial results are given.
