摘要
Endosonography allows excellent visualization of the gastrointestinal wall, extraintestinal mass lesions and adjacent lymph nodes. However, it cannot reliably differentiate between benign and malignant lesions in either region. Therefore, the facility of diagnosis by endosonography-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy is a diagnostic option which might gain considerable clinical importance. Technical aspects and the clinical significance of the method will be discussed in the present review article.
