摘要
The thesis presents a basic technique for establishing a modular product design - Modular Clustering Method (MCM): the overall goal is to translate. customer needs (preference),into rough layouts of a product. To accomplish this goal, small "functional modules" must be identified in the product, and the component hierarochy for the product is constructed, the next step is to define a product structural modules, the interactions between modules and the detail performance characteristics. Taking clip-tooling product as an example,the method (MCM) is explained.
