Event-related Potentials: concept, measurement and analysis Event-related Potentials (EPP) are one of the core methods in psychophysiological research. The present article provides an overview on the theoretical background, recording methods and quantification of the ERP-Signals. In particular, the methodological problems of the EEG activity measure like placement of appropriate reference electrode or selection of a baseline are discussed. Beside such general aspects of ERP methodology, two kinds of ERP data analysis are considered: the extraction of ERP subcomponents using Independent Component Analysis (ICA) and different types of source localisation methods of the ERP signals in the context of the "inverse problem".
