Mechanical properties of glass fiber/organic fiber mixed-mat reinforced thermoplastic composites

摘要
The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of the different types of the fibers on the mechanical properties of hybrid composite materials. High Density Polyethylene ( HDPE) was reinforced by long and short inorganic fiber ( glass fiber ( GF)) and different types of organic fibers ( aramid fiber, Kevlar 49 ( KF), liquid crystalline polymer fiber ( LCP), and vinylon fiber( VF)) in hybrid type. The long fiber reinforced hybrid composites were prepared in " fiber separating and flying machine " and the short reinforced hybrid composites were prepared in " elastic extruder ". The total amount of fibers that used was fixed as 20vol.% for both long fiber and short fiber hybrid composites. The influence of fiber content, length, and mixing ratio on mechanical properties, such as tensile,bending, izod impact, and high rate impact, viscoelastic properties in solid state, were studied. Fracture surfaces of the materials were discussed by scanning electron micrographs.
