摘要
The complex nature of modem materials is strongly dependent on their intrinsic microstructure. Their collective behaviour at the nanoscale strongly correlates to their macroscopic functionalities. Thus it has become necessary to understand the true nature of atomic disorder in order to understand its effects on the mechanical, elastic, magnetic and electronic transitions. Carefully calibrated and environment-controlled atomistic measurements can significantly further our understanding of the mechanisms responsible for macroscopic properties. To demonstrate these effects, La1-xSrxCoO3 is used as an example as it serves as a prototype for demonstrating lattice distortions through phase transitions.
