The role dendritic cells play in the cytokine responses in Peyer's patches

摘要
The role of dendritic cells (DCs) in T cell responses induced at the intestinal mucosa is unclear. Here, we demonstrate functional differences between DCs from Peyer's patch (PP) and spleen (SP), such as the ability to induce T cell differentiation. In this study, antigen presentation by PP DCs induced both Th1 and Th2 differentiation. PP DCs were found to induce increased IFN-gamma production compared to SP DCs, suggesting that DCs residing in different tissues are capable of inducing distinct immune responses.
