摘要
The main objective of the present work was to prepare fast disintegrating tablet of taste masked Azithromycin for pediatric patients. The light magnesium oxide was used as taste masking agent in this formulation and wet granulation technique was used to prepare the tablet. The taste masking of the drug was carried by making complex with Indion-234, Kyron T-112 (Resins), and beta-cyclodextrin as well as by light magnesium oxide; out of all the taste masking agent the light magnesium oxide was effective in masking the bitter taste of azithromycin. The prepared tablets were evaluated for weight variation, friability, taste evaluation, wetting time, in vitro disintegration time, and in vitro dissolution studies. The tablets disintegrated in vitro within 28 to 38 s and complete drug was released from the tablets within 25 min. Cumulative % drug release was found to be 99.90% in 25 min.
