Medical applications of systems biology

We illustrate in this review some applications of systems biology in the medical and biological areas. After a brief summary of time scales experienced by medical observations and of the general scheme of dynamic systems, we describe how some techniques underlying the complex systems theory can be applied to model medical issues in immunology, medical genetics, developmental morphogenesis, biochemistry, epidemiology, telemedecine and multiple platforms of expertises. In concluding, we will discuss the issue of "clinomics" coupling clinical and -omics data in a unique patient-specific file.
