Synthesis and Crystal Structure of Novel Derivatives of 1,5-Benzo[b]thiazepine

Eight title compounds were synthesized by the multi-step reaction using beta-dimethylamino-propiophenone hydrochloride as stating materials, followed by aldol condensation, cyclization with o-aminothiophenol, and [2+2] cycloaddition reaction with chloroacetyl chloride. The structures of these compounds were characterized by H-1 NMR, MS techniques and elemental analysis. Compound 4e was subjected to single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis to determine their structure.
