Big Data: A Revolution That Will Transform Enterprise Strategy

Big data is the buzzword of the day, carries opportunities to reshape business model design and day-to-day decision making, and receives a substantial attention from practice and academia. This study provides a summary introduce of big data, addressing three key questions for companies: the implication of big data, the changes, opportunities, challenges of big data, and the feasible strategies. Results revealed that big data refers to an era rather than data itself. The era of big data leads to radically changes to both external and internal environments, provides huge insights into business value. Existing literature largely focused on how to promote data analytics for companies, while a new enterprise strategy is urgently needed to suit new conditions of big data.
