The job market for academic positions in North America: a preliminary analysis of the disciplines "information systems" and "computer science"

In the U.S. and Canada, the existence of the disciplines "information systems" and "computer science" reveals a similar analogy of the dualism of "Wirtschaftsiniormarik" and "Informatik" in Europe's German speaking countries. Based on an extensive analysis of vacant academic positions in the Internet, this paper attempts to outline the evolutionary dynamics of the North American IT related disciplines within a market environment. Since academic positions in Germany, Switzerland and Austria are becoming scarce, the article also intends to provide an overview of employment opportunities for German speaking junior faculty members in North America.
