摘要
Despite of remarkable progress in recent time, the scientific basis for evidence based treatment of borderline personality disorder is still sparse. Although clinical practice prefers combinations of psychotherapy and pharmacological treatment, only two studies focusing this topic have been published yet. Concerning psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) according to M. Linehan provides best empirical evidence. Studies on the evaluation of pharmacologic treatment of borderline personality disorder are increasing. Effectiveness could be demonstrated for serotonine-reuptake inhibitors, atypical neuroleptics and mood stabilizers. However, these studies are limited to single substance use, which does not reflect clinical practice, Since prescription is usually based on individual symptomatology of the patients, combination of diverse substance classes is common but lacking any evidence.
