摘要
In this study, measurements were carried out on-board of a ferry sailing at Marmara Sea regarding to the regulations of MARPOL Annex IV NOx Technical Code. NOx, SOx, CO, CO2, particulate matters (PM) and hydrocarbons (HC) were measured. Along with power measurement, emissions were calculated as grams per kilowatt-hour g/kWh. The effects of engine load on the formation of emissions were investigated. Experimental investigation was carried out on the main engine which is four-stroke medium speed diesel running on fuel type of ultra low sulfur diesel. The weighted NOx and PM emissions from the main engine are obtained as 11.91 g/kWh and 0.079 g/kWh, respectively. Further calculations with measured emissions were carried out to investigate the effects of emissions on the local air quality at Marmara Sea. The results show that the exhaust emissions of ships at Marmara Sea are of crucial concern due to specific location and ecological conditions of the region.
