The Indian cement industry - its past, present and future perspectives

摘要：
The Indian cement industry is the second largest in the world with an installed capacity of almost 350 million tonnes per annum and it is poised to grow to a level of 470 million tonnes by 2020. In this growth path it has encountered numerous techno-managerial challenges and the road ahead is also fraught with many techno-economic pulls and pushes that will have to be circumvented. The present article is an attempt to capture some of these salient development issues of the past, present and future of this growing industry in this year of its centenary.
