摘要
In the United Kingdom there is a limited supply of available sites suitable for siting large wind farms. There are more smaller sites and exploitation of these could significantly improve the utilisation of wind power in the UK. This is the concept behind the Geographically Distributed Windfarm (GDWF). A number of sites, each with a relatively small number of turbines, are utilised but they are developed, financed and owned as a single entity. This approach should achieve many of the benefits of large wind farms, such as common ownership and financial efficiency, whilst introducing the flexibility and practicality of small clusters.
