THE IMPACT OF ORGANIC LAW 8/2021, OF JUNE 4 (ON COMPREHENSIVE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS AGAINST VIOLENCE), ON THE REINFORCED PROTECTION OF MINORS IN THE CRIMINAL CODE

On June 4, 2021, Organic Law 8/2021 on "comprehensive protection of children and adolescents against violence" was passed, in order to meet the need to introduce in our legal system the international commitments assumed by Spain in this area. For this reason, and with the aim of granting holistic protection to minors in view of their special vulnerability, in addition to establishing measures for protection, early detection, assistance, reintegration of violated rights or recovery of the victim, the Criminal Code, among other legal bodies, has been reformed, incorporating "significant" modifications. The aim of this paper is to analyze in detail the modifications introduced in it that specifically contribute to the protection of minors against violence, with the intention of verifying their timeliness and usefulness.
