The effect of subwavelength guidance on mode propagation and dispersion in high index optical waveguides

摘要
We investigate the effect of strong guidance in optical fibres with subwavelength core sizes and high index contrasts. We show that the reason results obtained via scalar modelling differ from those obtained vectorially is due to the effect of the longitudinal field component and the field curvature.
