摘要
The colloidal stability of iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) played an important role in biomedical applications. In this study, IONPs were synthesized through one-pot co-precipitation route in the presence of capping agent. The capping agents used for coating IONPs were tri-sodium citrate, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) to enhance their stability. The prepared IONPs were characterized by various techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and Malvern Zetasizer Nano. It was observed that the IONPs prepared with citrate as a capping agent showed the higher value of zeta potential (zeta = -44mV) compared to IONPs prepared with PVP (zeta = -10mV) and CTAB (zeta = 29.7mV). This revealed that the presence of citrate during IONPs synthesis enhanced the stability of IONPs better than PVP and CTAB. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
