摘要
The sintering of two cylindrical particles by lattice or grain-boundary diffusion at the initial stage is analysed by a variational principle and use of the continuity equation. The expression for the growth rate by lattice or grain-boundary diffusion indicates that the length of the neck increases as a power of time.
