摘要
The steam oxidation behaviour of power plant steels containing 1 - 12 % Cr has been investigated in tests at 550-650 degrees C for up to 10 000 h. It was found that the protective spinel scales that are formed in dry air are destroyed by the presence of water vapour in the test gas, and there is little difference between the steam oxidation rates at 600 and 650 degrees C of steels containing 1 - 11% Cr. Test using simple model steels have shown that additions of the spinel stabilizing element Co may provide a significant improvement in the steam oxidation behaviour of 9-10% Cr steels.
