摘要
Our existing highway system is an extremely valuable resource containing many millions of tons of high quality asphalt and aggregate. In cold in-place recycling of asphalt pavements, these materials are reused to produce a crack free, rejuvenated, and structurally sound pavement 75 to 100 mm thick at about the same cost as a 37 mm thick HMA overlay - a 50% or more savings. Performance of recycled pavements has been excellent and the recycling plus HMA overlay rehabilitation treatment is cost effective. Most work to date has been completed with asphalt emulsions as the binding agent. Recently, however, several new additives have been tried with excellent results in most cases. Additionally new equipment is increasing productivity and producing a better pavement end product.
