Structural identification and health monitoring of a long-span bridge

摘要
The concept of structural identification and its demonstration on a long-span bridge are presented and discussed. First, the structural characteristics of the bridge are conceptualized for feasible and rational representation for the preliminary analytical model. Static and dynamic analyses are conducted to help locate anomalies and errors in the model. The experimental techniques necessary for the structural identification of a long span bridge are then illustrated. A long-term continuously operating health-monitor system was designed and implemented as an enabler of experimental measurements. Mechanical and electrical characteristics of the monitor system are discussed and issues related to data acquisition and information management is overviewed. Currently, the monitor installed at the bridge has about 80 channels of different sensor types collecting data such as wind speed and direction, temperature, strains, accelerations. In addition, real time image data are monitored and/or captured. Integration of image and data in real time and potential of this for operational and structural-maintenance management by continuous monitor are summarized.
