Boredom in young people

This study aimed of knowing the experiences and perceptions of free time of young people, passing through the concept of boredom. It's a research that integrates quantitative and qualitative approaches, which had as participants thirteen young university students. Through the Descendant Hierarchical Classification, carried out by the Iramuteq software, can perceive in young people an urgency for time to pass faster, being free time interpreted as something dull and tedious associated with the feeling of useless. In the face of this time out of the busy, the subjects seek to fill it, In an attempt to flee from possible distress to thoughts arising from this time. However, it was noted the occupation of this time with superfluous activities, especially linked to the use of technologies. Such activities, in general, lack a more expressive expression, which leads to the onset of boredom. Thus, stress is not just an everyday symptom, but it is a sociopsychological symptom, which is a postmodern mode of being.
