Overcoming Discontinuities Inside Waveguides with Epsilon-near-zero Medium

摘要
An approach to eliminate scattered fields due to discontinuities inside waveguide structures was introduced in this paper. The theory of squeezing electromagnetic energy in epsilon-near-zero medium (ENZ) was reviewed firstly. The essential distinction between zero-scattering fields due to ENZ and Fabry-Perot thickness was stressed. Simulation results were then presented to verify the theoretical prediction. Finally, this paper proposed and verified with full wave electromagnetic simulations the first realization of a two-dimensional (2D) anisotropic ENZ with thin wire structures in a waveguide with a narrow channel.
