摘要
From the studies of the Social Representations it becomes possible to understand and identify the different aspects that involve the role of the teacher in the current educational context. Based on this premise,the present study was developed with the objective of analyzing the social representations of the teachers about the teaching work, check what they think about their role in education and the main challenges they face in everyday school. The study was carried out at the Ouro Verde State School, using as method the qualitative research with data collection and bibliographical survey seeking a theoretical contribution in the ideas and conceptions of different authors. The data obtained indicate that for the group of teachers studied, the role of the teacher is the mediator of knowledge, and that it is up to the teacher to promote situations that can guarantee the student's learning. It was observed that teachers do not feel valued and are not satisfied with their working conditions currently.
