The question of worldview - between historiography and literary criticism

In this essay the first question I consider is: Is it still productive to interpret a literary text with regard to the way it is rooted in its historical context? My answer to this question is interpreted through the connection of contemporary mentalities. The author's world experience and other texts influence his concept of the world, along with his values and norms. He offers these ideas and experiences throughout his texts to the reader. Therefore the act of reading could be seen as a dialogue of worldviews. The essay goes on to devote attention to some definitions of key terms associated with the thinking outlined: mentality, ideology and worldview.
