Percutaneous balloon dilatation of aortic coarctation in adults

Over a 4-year period, we considered percutaneous balloon angioplasty for aortic coarctation in 27 adult patients (17 men and 10 women, mean age 31.8 years, range 16 to 58), which was successfully performed in 23 patients. Our experience suggests that percutaneous balloon angioplasty is a feasible and safe procedure in adults with coarctation of the aorta, and should be considered routinely in adults with this condition.
