摘要
This research is analyzing the heterogeneous networks (WLAN and WiMAX) and improving the decision algorithm during vertical handover between WLAN and WiMAX. The improvements include proposing new algorithm for vertical handover which will make the handover between the two networks seamless and will improve the qualities of the service for the users. The proposed algorithm is based on the WLAN overload, which is crucial while providing good quality of service to the mobile nodes. The other part in this paper is simulation of the scenario with the newly proposed algorithm and the existing MIH module in the 802.21 standard. The newly proposed algorithm avoids unnecessary vertical handovers from WiMAX to WLAN. At the end, the gathered results are analyzed and compared. During the simulation, measurements for the vertical handover latency, average throughput, jitter and packets received for each mobile node are done.
