Formation of TiO2 Nanoparticles by Laser Ablation and Their Properties

摘要
Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) are obtained by laser ablation. The as-prepared TiO2 NPs have dimensions from 5 to 100 nm. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) with electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) and X-ray analysis studied morphology, structure and phase composition of the particles. It is established that there are the oxygen vacancies and the titanium vacancies and interstices in the surface layers of NPs. These defects improve thermal stability of the anatase phase. The photocatalytic properties of the ablated TiO2 NPs are investigated by degradation of a methylene blue solution. This work shows that temperature annealing leads to a decrease of photocatalytic activity of obtained nanoparticles.
