Tell Me What Course You Do and I Will Tell You Who You Are

This qualitative research aimed to know the symbolic aspects present in the "characters" metaphorized by undergraduate students when analyzing their course and the others in the studied IFES. As a theoretical reference are the Relations between Representational Meaning and Discourse as a Social Practice (Fairclough, 1992). The students were invited to think of a metaphor. These metaphors were interpreted from the theoretical-methodological approach of Critical Discourse Analysis. As results, we observed seven representational meanings. The theoretical relevance of this research lies in understanding that each metaphorical character can represent perceptions and stereotypes of power over the courses and professions within an organization.
