摘要
Smart structures, with embedded piezoelectric sensors and actuators, attract considerable research interest today in shape and vibration control applications. One such application currently being investigated is the shape control of aperture antennas. By supplying suitable electric field to the actuators, different shapes of the antenna can be obtained enabling one to shape or steer the radiated beam. In this paper, first the antenna shell is modelled using finite element technique and then the deflected shape of the antenna shell is analysed for effect on the radiation pattern. Effect of different positions and sizes of the piezoelectric actuator on cylindrical antenna shells is analyzed.
