New polymethine dyes as chemical transducers for ammonia

摘要：
Condensation of 1,1-(dimethylaminophenyl) ethylene with substituted ketones and hydroxyketones in acetanhydride in the presence of perchloric acid yielded NIR dyes. The dyes are reversibly sensitive to ammonia both in ethanolic solutions and in a fluoropolymer matrix so that they are expected to be used as chemical transducers in distributed fibre-optic ammonia sensors.
