The laminar, viscous, nonequilibrium boundary layer flow around an axisymmetric blunt body has been computed to predict the wall heat flux transfer The numerical method is based on an extension of the defect formulation to two-dimensional hypersonic flows in chemical and vibrational nonequilibrium., This method ensures a smooth matching of the boundary layer solution with ii vortical external flow. The air was considered as a mixture of the five species N-2, O-2, NO, N, O, in which the diatomic species N-2, O-2 are in vibrational nonequilibrium. The influence of the model used for the species diffusion is presented, as well as a comparison between our method and Navier-Stokes computations, for the nonequilibrium reacting flow over the Electre model with F4 nozzle freestream conditions.
