A facile synthesis of novel 2-{4'-[1-(1,2,4-triazolyl) methyl] phenyl}-4-(substituted) thiazoles (3a-j) has been carried out by condensation of 4'-[1-(1,2,4-triazolyl) methyl] benzothioamide (2) with various substituted aryl/heteroaryl alpha-haloketones. The synthesized compounds were screened for their possible antimicrobial activity.
