STUDY ON SKIN TEMPERATURE AND THERMAL COMFORT IN DIFFERENT CONDITIONS

There are so many studies focus on thermal comfort in recent years. Questionnaire and skin temperature are the common method to evaluate thermal comfort status for the researches. An experiment is carried out in a climate chamber to study thermal comfort and the difference among the formulas for mean skin temperature. The results show that The mean skin temperature calculated by the four methods at 23 degrees C is 31.5 +/- 0.5 degrees C, 31.9 +/- 1.2 degrees C, 31.8 +/- 0.9 degrees C and 31.8 +/- 0.8 degrees C, respectively. The skin temperature calculated by ISO 8-point is very close to that of ISO 14-point. Most of subjects prefer to slight warm environment when their TSV is -2 (cool) while most subjects like to stay in neutral environment when their TSV is higher than -1 (slight cool).
