摘要
This paper discusses the disconnect between the stated requirement for space nuclear power as enabling technology for exploration of Mars and the current status of R&D funding for these systems. Discussion of possible changes necessary in the policies of the United States to allow the development and launch of space nuclear power systems is offered.
