Organomineralic adsorbents derived from zeolites by the use of cracking residues

Zeolites spent in oil refining are impregnated with a solution of cracking residue in furfural, which gives organomineralic adsorbents for taking up and concentrating toxic metals (As, Pb, and Hg) from effluent waters. These adsorbents have better sorption capacity than does industrial CAD iodide used to clean up effluent waters. When they are used, the degrees of removal of radionuclides cesium-137 and cobalt-60 are higher than when one uses natural sorbents and the BAU carbon adsorbent correspondingly by two and one orders of magnitude.
