Techno-economic analysis of the lithium-ion and lead-acid battery in Photovoltaic pumping system

摘要
Photovoltaic water pumping technology is considered as a sustainable and economical solution to provide water for irrigation. This paper presents a new sizing algorithm of a photovoltaic pumping system with battery as energy storage. Deficiency of power supply probability and total net present cost are considered as the objectives of the optimization procedure and the decision variables are the number of photovoltaic panels and battery capacity. Two types of batteries has been compared and studied in the proposed system considering realistic load profile and real prices of the components. We conclude that lithium-ion batteries are techno-economically more viable compared to Lead-Acid batteries and they are expected to play a significant role in various applications of future electric power systems.
