The challenges of emerging economies

The views of Raj Reddy, Professor of Computer Science and Robotics at Carnegie Mellon University, and Genevieve Bell, director of User ExperienceGroup within Intel's Digital Home Platform, on affordable information infrastructure in emerging economies, and avoidance of pitfall when developing technologies for emerging economies, are presented. Most of the content and the interface are currently in English, and should be internationalized. The users don't need to be literate to get access to entertainment and communication. The technology developer should get acquainted to the contexts while developing new technologies or innovate old technologies for different contexts.
