The Alternative Energy Research and Development Act, to the HVAC&R community, covers energy-efficient building grant program and support for high-performance building design education. The energy-efficient building grant program is a pilot program for the construction or renovation of buildings that results in energy-efficient buildings and demonstrates innovative energy-efficiency technologies. The bill also includes provisions for funding a curriculum development program at the National Science Foundation designed to improve undergraduate and graduate interdisciplinary engineering and architecture education related to the design and construction of high-performance buildings.
