pH-dependent viscosity enhancement in aqueous systems of hydrophobically modified acrylamide and acrylic acid copolymers

摘要
A series of hydrophobically modified (HM) acrylamide (AM) and acrylic acid (AA) terpolymers were synthesized by keeping the hydrophobe substitution constant and varying the amount of hydrophilic AA group incorporation. As a result, a remarkably large increase in viscosity at intermediate pH values was observed.
